Evaluation of The Efficacy of Some Plant Extracts on The Growth of Storage Fungi for Wheat Grain in Al-Diwaniya Storerooms Some

This study included testing the efficacy of the aquatic and alcoholic extracts for rhizomes of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) and roots of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) in the germination of local wheat seeds stored in the main storeroom and storerooms of Mabain AL-Nahrain company for seeds production in Al-Diwaniya city for culture season 2006-2007, and study the effect of four concentration of these extracts it are (5, 10, 15, 20) mg/ml in radial growth and spores germination for some fungi isolated from wheat seeds, and testing the effect of dried powder and alcoholic extracts for tested plant in germination of wheat seeds stored in the Mabain AL-Nahrain company in sterilized and unsterilized soils.
The results showed that there are significant differences in the percentage of wheat seeds germination in different concentration for extracts in measuring with controlled treatment, and there are no significant differences in the percentage of wheat seeds germination at concentration 20 mg/ml for different treatments in measuring with treatment of fungi disinfectant (Dividend) at level of possibility 5 %. The all extracts were had significant inhibited effect for growth of tested fungi on solid culture medium (Potato Dextrose Agar) in measuring with controlled treatment and this fungi are: Aspergillus niger, Alternaria alternata, Penicillium notatum and Fusarium oxysporum, and alcoholic turmeric extract was the most effective extract on tested fungi, and this extracts were reduced from the percentage of spores germination for tested fungi in significant form in measuring with controlled treatments at level of possibility 5 %. The results showed that there are no significant differences in the percentage of wheat seeds germination at concentration 15, 20 mg/ml for dried powder treatments for turmeric and eggplant plant in measuring with alcoholic extract treatments for turmeric and eggplant plant in sterilized and unsterilized soils at level of possibility 5 %.

Comparative Physiological study for some biochemical Parameters in camels

This study was carried out to compare between levels of plasma proteins which are including total protein concentration , Albumin concentration and globulin concentration in camels . blood samples were collected from Diwhyniah and Najaf slaughter house which are ( 10 ) samples males, ( 10 ) samples females in estrus phase and ( 10 ) samples pregnant females . The results of this study are revealed significant increase ( p <0.05 ) in total protein concentration( 6.37± 0.35 ), Albumin concentration ( 3.53± 0.22 ) and globulin concentration (3.34± .36 ) in males group . Also the results are revealed significant increase ( p < 0.05 ) in total protein concentration ( 6.40± 0.23 ) , Albumin concentration ( 3.63± 0.22 ) and globulin concentration ( 2.77 ± 0.29 ) in females in estrus phase in compare with pregnant females in which the total protein concentration is ( 4.86 ± 0.27 ) , Albumin concentration is ( 3.02 ± 0.13 ) and globulin concentration is ( 1.84 ± 0.29 ) there is significant decrease ( p < 0.05 ) in plasma protein levels in pregnant females in compare with males and females in estrus phase.

Study of some physiological and biochemical blood parameters in non - insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Governorate

The aim of this study was to know the important changes in some physiological and biochemical blood parameters in non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in Najaf . Thirty samples of blood were collected from non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients (14 males and 16 females) in age ( 30-60 ) years old . Moreover (30) samples of blood for healthy persons who do not suffer from pathological symptoms dependent on laboratory diagnostic . This sample included (14 males and 16 females ) in age ( 20-60 ) years old . After collecting information and doing statistical analysis. The study showed the following results : a significant increase ( P > 0.05 ) in the total number of white blood cells about males and females non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in comparison with the control group . Also there was a significant decrease (P < 0.05) in the hemoglobin concentration and mean corpuscular hemoglobin about males and females non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in comparison with the control group . Besides there was a significant increase (P < 0.05) in platelets count about males and females non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in comparison with the control group . In addition to that there was a significant increase (P < 0.05) in total cholesterol and triglycerides about males and females non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in comparison with the control group . Moreover there was a significant increase (P < 0.05) in blood pressure ( systolic and diastolic ) about males and females non-insulin – dependent diabetes mellitus patients in comparison with the control group .

Study diagnosis pregnancy in awassi ewe via udder strips

This study was conducted in the animal production department of agriculture college of kufa university .The aim of study to diagnosis the pregnancy in awassi ewe, udder strip were taken for each ewe monthly. The results were indicated that when the color was honey ,yellowish,grayish,clear and milky, the pregnancy would be 100,90.36,46.34,23.34 and 14.6% respectively.when the gluishness of the udder strips were gummy ,sticky or the nonsticky,the pregnancy could be 100,91.86 and 25.14% respectively.When the udder stips consistency were thick or thin the pregnancy could be 96.66 and 53.4% respectively .when the PH value were 6 -6.5 , 7 or 7.5 – 8 the pregnancy could be 100,70.38 and 38.36% respectively.

Test the ability of Some Fungi Species In Biodegradation of Some Chemical Pesticides

The study included isolating and identifying the fungi form the soil of two Pesticides stores, the first for herbicide stam-f-34 and the second for different pesdticides Alternaria alternate (A.a.) ، Aspergillus niger1 (A.n.1.) ، Aspergillus parasiticus (A.p.) ، Aspergillus terreus (A.t.) ، Cheatomium elatium (C. e.) ، Cheatomium globosum (C. g.) ، Phoma sp. (P. sp.) ، Pythomyces sp. (P.sp.) ، Gray Sterile Fungi (G.S.F.) ، White Sterile Fungi (W.S.F.1) ، White Sterile Fungi (2) (W.S.F.2) From Pesticides stores and taken Aspergillus niger 2 (A.n.2.) ، Aspergillus niger 3 (A.n.3.) ، Emericiella nidulans (E.n.) ، Fusarium sp. (F. sp.) ، Penicillium oxalicum (P.o.) ، Trichoderma harzianum (T.h.)، From the higher education lab in College of Agriculture and the tolerance of these fungi to some common pesdticides like Vidate (Nematocide) , Roxar (Herbicide) ، Clofycom (Acrocide) ، Devicose (Insecticide) and Beltanol (Fungicide) and the growing on the P.D.B. to measure their Biomass. And it was noticed that the fungal Biomass on the toxic P.D.B. in twice dosage from the studied pesticides the fungus A.a. gave the highest weight with nematocide (N) which was 19.9 gm whereas T.h. was the lowest weight which was 3.2 gm , with the herbicide (H) the growth was weak for all fungi. with the Acharicide (A) the highest biomass was with A.a. which was 14.9 gm and the lowest was with T.h. which was 3.25 gm , Insecticide (I) gave highest weight with F.sp. which was 14.6 gm and the weight of other fungi was weak , with fungicide (F) F.sp gave the highest weight which was 16.0 gm and the lowest was with T.h. which was 5.2 gm . The results of spectrophotometer analysis of all fungi showed high ability in degradation of all pesticides (N , H , A , I , F) in P.D.B. the highest was in N with A.n.2 which was 74.83% and the lowest was in W.S.F.1. which was 68.96% , the highes percent of H was by Phoma sp which was 59.72% but the lowest was by F.sp which was 59.25% , the highest degradation percent of A was by A,p. which was 78.04% the lowest by A.a.which was 77.68% However , in the I the highest degradation percent was by A.t. which was 77.10% but the lowest was by Phoma sp which was 71.73% . With F the highest value was by E.n. which was 81.97% but the lowest was by W.S.F.1 which was 78.72%.
The fungi effected on the pH of the P.D.B. toxic with double dosage of the studied pesticides, the fungus A.a. gave lowest PH with H which was 5.75 , whereas the fungus A.n.1 had lowest PH with N which was 4.7 , and fungus A.n.2 gave lowest PH with F which was 4.8 and the lowest Ph for the fungus A.n.3 with I, and for the fungus F.sp. PH was 4.40 with I, and for fungus phoma sp. PH was 5.6 with H and for T.h. all PH were higher than control , and the highest was 7.99 with I, whereas W.S.F.1 gave the lowest PH with I which was 5.17 .

Effect of organic extracts of myrtus leaves on growth of wheat and annual darnel

An experiment was conducted at AL.Mishkhb experimental research station / Najaf to test the effects of organic solvents of myrtus leaves by ethanol .ethyl acetate. and hexan at concentration of 2.5 . 5.0 . 10.0 . and 20 mg.ml water as well as control treatment (distilled water) on seedling growth of wheat and annual darnel Results indicated that leaf extracts by ethyl acetate gave an inhibitory effect on shoot growth for both wheat and annual darnel compared to the other organic solvent extracts. Results also revealed that all extracts concentrations inhibited the length of shoot and root for wheat and annual darnel except for 2.5 gm/ml of hexane extract which gave an enhancing effect for wheat seedling length only.

The effect of some physical and chemical agents and both extracts of Colocynth fruits and Pomegranate peels on the growth of the fungus Alternaria alternata that isolated from Tomato in markets domestic in Alnajaf Alashref

The study included test the effect of some physical and chemical agents as well as evaluating the efficiency of a number of plant extracts in the growth of fungus Alternaria alternata that causes black mold disease isolated from tomato fruits . The results of laboratory experiments showed that the optimal degree of temperature for growth of the fungus A.alternata was 25 and 30 cº , where the range of colony diameter reached 7.1 and 7 cm respectively at 7days of incubation period , with significantly different from the other temperature .
The results show that the best culture media for cultivation growth is Malt extract agar medium M.E.A and the range of fungal colony 7.5 cm . The results show that the sodium chloride different effects on the experimented fungus growth . The low concentrations are caused inhibition of the fungus where the rate of inhibition percentage reached 35.4% in concentration 0.1% , while high concentration had a positive effect to increase the growth of the experimental fungus .
On the other hand it showed that the general extract of Colocynth seeds and Pomegranate peels give efficiency inhibition to the growth of fungus A.alternata where the inhibition percentage reached 76.37% and 75.01% in the concentration for general extract of Colocynth seeds and Pomegranate peels respectively . While did not show significant differences in the sensitivity of the experiment fungus for the extract type .

Effect of pruning and spraying with GA3 , BA on storability of fruits of Fig cv. Aswad Diala( Ficus carica L.)

An experiment was conducted in a private orchard at Abbasyia distort , AL Najaf Governorate during the growing season of 2009 on fig ( cv. Aswad Diala ) . The branches at aged one year old were pruned at level of ( 25 and 50 % ) and spraying with BA concentration (100 and 150 ) mg/ L at 15 march and in 10 / 11 / 2009 take 1 kg of were fruits take from trees and stored under 5C and Relative Humidity 80-85% for 8 days. Results showed that pruning treatments and spraying with BA treatments and their interactions caused a significant decrease percentage of total decay , percentage of weight loss , total soluble solids ,Vitamin C , Anthocyanine pigment in fruit peel , respiration rate and increase degree of taste in the end of the storage compared to control treatment . There was a significant effect during treatments . Treatment of pruning of branches at aged one year old as 50% + spraying BA in concentrate 150 mg / L gave a significant effects and the best results .

The effect of aqueous extracts of Ricinrs communis on some biological performance of the mosquito Culex pipiens L. (Diptera: Culicidae).

The presnt study was conducted to evaluate the probable effects of Ricinus communis leaves aqueas extracts on some biological per formance of mosquito Culex pipiens. Study rsults revrealed that hot water extract seems to be more effective than cold water extract. Eggs mortality rate in hot and cold water extracts were 55.7% and 41.8% respectively at concentration 20 mg/ml. Larval mortalities rate was increase as compared with eggs. The extracts of hot and cold water caused pupal mortality was 64.2% and 53.6% respectively at same concentration.

Study of the effect of Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate on lipoproteins concentration in the blood serum

The study was conducted in the hospital of "Delivery and Children"/AL-Najaf governorate, (30) women of the child bearing age were followed up. The results were illustrated that, the injection with Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate contraceptive for (9months) has caused a significant decrease (p<0.01) in the concentrations of, total protein, albumin, cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoproteins and glucose. In contrast, the concentration of high density lipoproteins has been manifested a significant raise (p<0.01) was resulted from the using of Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate as an injectable contraceptive.

The detection of Toxoplasmosis infection among married women in Al-Abbasiya –Najaf region

This study was achieved at Al-Abbasiya –Najaf region , for the period from Feberuary2009 to April-2009 on married pregnant and non-pregnant women for the detection of Toxoplasmosis infection by using Latex Agglutination Test (LAT) and to determine the relationship between Toxoplasmosis infection and (ABO) blood group in Al-Abbasiya-Najaf region.
The results showed for (83) womens from (240) married pregnant and non-pregnant womens were infected with the Toxoplasmosis and the highest percentage of infection were recorded in (18-27) years old (43.7% and 42.8% respectively).
The results indicated that all the married pregnant and non-pregnant womens who are under the test ,which have a Rhesus factor (Rh+) , and the womens which have (O) blood group are more susceptible to Toxoplasmosis infection (39.5% and 40% respectively).

Survey study for some aspects relationship between Obesity And colon disorders

This study was carried out at the internal consultant department in Al-Hakem general hospital in Al-Najaf Al-Ashraff governorate from 1/10/2008 to 31/5/2009, to describe some respects the relationship between obesity and colon disease, the total number of obese cases was one hundred which only represented the registered, with males preponderance (91%) compared with females. The cases were most frequent within the age group (49 – 40 yrs ) (32.9%) and least frequent within the age group (70 – 79 yrs ) (1.1%) with the bulk of cases occurring up to the age of (30 -69 yrs ) for males while the cases was most frequent within the age group ( 40 -59 yrs ) (33.3%) and least frequent within the age group (70 -79 yrs )(zero), with the bulk of cases occurring up to the age of (40 -59 yrs ) for females .
(76.9%) of males obese where don’t have colon disease and (23.1%) have colon disease, while (66.7%) of female had colon disease and (33.3%) with out colon disease. (75.8%) of male don’t had familiar history with obesity, and (24.1%) who had familiar obesity, but in females (77.7%) don’t had familiar obesity and (22.2%) with familiar obesity .And lastly (21.9%) of males was suffer from diabetic and (78.1%) without diabetic disease. but in females (33.3%) with diabetic disease and (66.7%) without diabetic disease.
This study recommended: prepare – based estimates of obesity and its associated risk factors in Iraq to detection the health problem that be related the obesity.

Effect of P. aeruginosa metabolic products on some hematological, biochemical and histological parameters of male rats

The present study was designed to prove the toxic effects of Effect of P. aeruginosa metabolic products on some hematological, biochemical and histological on male rats
Forty mature male rats, their age average was about (3-3.5) months and their weight average was about (200-225) gm, were randomly divided into 2 equal groups: treatment group (T) were drenched orally by four concentration of P. aeruginosa metabolic products (5,50,500,5000) μl/kg body weight, five animals for each concentration and control treated orally by normal saline in the same concentrations above, also five animals each. The animal treated with one single dose of the previously describe concentrations then left for 15 days. Animals of different groups were sacrificed under light anesthesia one day after the end of treatment and blood samples were taken to determine some physiological, biochemical parameters, also the liver and kidneys samples.
The results revealed many changes due to treatment fluctuated according to the type of studied parameter, as follows: significance increase of WBCs count, serum ALT activity, serum AST activity, serum sugar, while hemoglobin (Hb) and serum triglyceride (TG) concentration shows significance decrease. Also the microscopic examination of the organs shows many histopathological changes due to the treatment such as hemorrhage, extension of central vein, disarrangement of sinusoid, degeneration and hepatocytes necrosis in the liver, while kidneys sections shows epithelial infiltration, simple glomerulus's extension and slight tubular degeneration .
The findings of this study showed that liver function and liver structure severely effected by P. aeruginosa metabolic products as well as other parameters due to the treatment.

Control of Salmonella Spp isolated from Garmat Ali sewage by superoxide radicals produced in vitro.

A modified method was used in the present study to generate superoxide radicals (O2.-) in vitro, the method involves exposing of riboflavin to lighting and generate O2.-. Salmonella Spp was isolated from sewage of Garmat Ali region in Basrah city, Iraq. This study aimed to reduced Salmonella Spp by submitted it to superoxide radicals. A significant reduction in the number of bacteria was revealed after exposed to superoxide radicals at (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50) µg/mL of riboflavin for 10 min of lighting with fluorescent lamp ( 40 watt ), as well as the reduction in bacteria number was observed when the bacteria was exposed to superoxide radicals at 30µg/mL of riboflavin for intervals (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30) min of lighting with fluorescent lamp. This study suggesting that reduction in bacteria number was increased as increased riboflavin concentration or increased lighting time.

Effect of Hot Aqueous Extract of Citrullus colocynthis L. Fruit on some Biochemical and Haematological Parameters in Alloxan –Induced Diabetic Rats

The present study deals with the effect of the aqueous extract of Citrullus colocynthis L. fruit on some biochemical and haematological values in alloxan-induced diabetic rats, including: serum glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, total protein, total urea, serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST), serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), haemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV) and white blood cell (WBC) were determined after oral administration of the extract to diabetic rats in a dose of 300mg/Kg body weight for 3 weeks.
A total of 12 rats were involved in this study and were divided into three experimental groups: control, diabetic and C.colocynthis-treated diabetic. It was found that C.colocynthis treatment decrease the elevated serum glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, ALP and ALT in diabetic rats. Other parameters including: total protein, urea, AST, Hb, PCV and WBC were found to be unchanged.
It is concluded that oral C. colocynthis treatment might normalize some abnormal biochemical parameters in diabetic rats but it has no effect on the haematological parameters.
